Where do I learn more about Scholarships?
You should start your scholarship search at:
www.studentawards.com
www.scholarshipscanada.com
These websites will help you to locate available scholarships. Once you have identified the scholarships you qualify for, you should download the application forms and follow all instructions. Be sure to keep a close eye on the due dates. Required reference letters should be written by teachers who know you well. Some scholarships will require a recommendation from the school. For these, see Mrs. Perkins in Guidance.
Check the scholarship binder on the counter in Guidance for scholarships unique to Durham Region. Several of the local scholarships will also be listed below, but check Guidance for a complete listing.
The institutions you are applying to will also have some scholarships and bursaries available. Check their websites or call their financial aid office for more information. Entrance scholarships are based strictly on marks and vary greatly. No application is necessary.
Some employers / clubs / organizations offer scholarships to the children of their employees / members. Investigate the possibilities.
